Intense checks in the Chiaia bar area and in the Antignano market, in Vomero, led to heavy fines and the suspension of several businesses for serious irregularities. Between 7 and 8 November, ASL Napoli 1 staff, together with the Carabinieri, inspected 20 premises, including bars and restaurants in the Chiaia area, finding numerous violations: 85 prescriptions and 18 fines were issued, for a total of 29.500 euros. Two food seizures led to the withdrawal of 130 kg of goods due to lack of traceability. In addition, seven premises received a suspension order, six of which for hygiene deficiencies and one for lack of the necessary authorizations.
The next day, the checks were extended to the Antignano market, in the Vomero neighborhood. In this case, the ASL staff, supported by the Local Police, the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza and the State Police, combed through a bakery with a food laboratory and a fruit and vegetable shop. Here too, serious shortcomings emerged: ten prescriptions were issued, three fines for a total of 4.000 euros and 350 kg of food were seized. The bakery's activity was suspended due to the lack of adequate hygiene and health conditions.
Further checks in the Chiaia and Vomero neighborhoods led to 68 prescriptions, a warning and 11 fines for a total of 15.500 euros, along with the seizure of 90 kg of untraceable food products. These operations are part of a control plan coordinated by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, chaired by the Prefect of Naples Michele of Bari, aimed at ensuring compliance with hygiene and administrative regulations in the city's busiest areas.
