Ariano Irpino. After 32 years, he considers it an early gift from “Santa Claus”. Alberto Scaperrotta, a 62-year-old entrepreneur from Ariano Irpino (Avellino), has regained possession of his Ferrari Testarossa, sold in 1992 for 400 million lire to a customer who turned out to be a bad payer.
The case dragged on for years in the courtrooms, first in Ariano Irpino and then in Benevento, culminating with the release of the vehicle, which in the meantime had been entrusted to a judicial custodian.
"I don't know whether to be happy or cry," said Scaperrotta, president of Scuderia Ferrari in Ariano Irpino, "because this prestigious car has caused me enormous physical, economic and entrepreneurial problems. After years of legal battles, it has finally come home."
However, the car required extraordinary maintenance, estimated at over 60 thousand euros, due to the lack of care during the period of judicial custody. "Who is responsible for paying for this intervention?", asks the entrepreneur. "I would not want to add insult to injury. I hope that clarity will be clarified quickly".
Despite the current market value of the Testarossa, estimated at around 500 thousand euros, Scaperrotta categorically rules out selling it. “I have spent over three million euros over the years for this affair. Today this Ferrari is part of my life and I am holding on to it,” he concluded.
