The presentation of the new book by Maria Rosaria Selo, “Pucundria” published by Marotta&Cafiero, is underway at the Teatro Stabile Santa Filomena in Castellammare of Stabia located in via VM Sarnelli, 26. The literary event will take place on Monday 16 December starting at 18:00 and will be chaired by the cultural association Achille Basile – Le ali della letteratura as part of the 2024th edition of the Stabia Teatro Festival – Annibale Ruccello Award XNUMX
Professor and president of the cultural association Carmen Matarazzo, journalists Annamaria Cafaro and Emanuela Francini will converse with the author. During the evening, actor Gigi Longobardi will give voice to some salient passages of the book through their reading.
“Pucundria” turns its gaze to a reality that holds stories steeped in humanity. It does so in a farsighted and serene way, overcoming stereotypes and prejudices. The protagonists of the story are the women's prison of Pozzuoli and the lives of Teresa and Anna, respectively a prison officer and a prisoner convicted of murder.
Two women in different positions, but united by a painful experience that brings them closer and unites them in a sincere friendship. Their relationship, emotional and engaging, invites us to reflect on important issues that include the very current one of gender violence and the precarious conditions in which many Italian prisons find themselves.
Rosi Selo, with her well-known sensitivity, and the effectiveness of an expert and delicate pen, lays bare the intimate essence of a complicated world. The reading public will perceive the painful melancholy, as well as the silent sensations arising from her noble heart.
