The Access Commission has been established at the Municipality of Pomigliano d'Arco to examine the administrative documents. The news was released by the municipal administration through an official note, which specifies that the Commission, sent by the Prefect of Naples, began its work this morning.
“Since we are absolutely calm and certain of the correctness of the actions of this municipal administration – declared the mayor of Pomigliano, Raffaele Russo – we calmly await the feedback from the Access Commission.”
Pomigliano d'Arco, with a population of 40, is one of the main centers in the province of Naples, thanks also to the presence of the Stellantis plant and other important industrial sites. The current mayor, Raffaele Russo, 84, leads a center-right majority and was re-elected in May 2023 with 72,5% of the vote for his seventh term. Russo has served as mayor since the 80s, initially as a member of the PSI.
In recent months, the mayor has been at the center of a heated confrontation with the AVS parliamentarian, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who had urged Minister Piantedosi to send an Access Commission to the Municipality of Pomigliano. In response to Borrelli's statements, which denounced the presence of the Camorra in the Vesuvian city, Russo had reacted harshly, announcing a complaint.
