A family drama erupted into violence in Giugliano, where a 37-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of domestic abuse and criminal damage followed by arson. The man allegedly set fire to his wife's and mother-in-law's cars, but while fleeing, he made a fatal mistake: he lost his cell phone, which allowed officers to quickly locate him.
The fire was put out by the firefighters while the police, who arrived on the scene, found the man's phone next to the wrecked vehicles. Analysis of the device revealed a series of messages sent to his wife, full of death threats. According to investigators' reconstructions, it all started during a soccer game played by the couple's eldest son.
The man allegedly drank too much and, at the end of the match, some acquaintances convinced his wife to drive to avoid problems. During the ride home, however, the situation degenerated: the man insulted and threatened the woman, going so far as to violently squeeze her wrist in front of their children, aged 3 and 8.
Fearing for her safety, the woman decided to leave her husband at home and take refuge elsewhere with her children. Shortly after, the 37-year-old allegedly set fire to the two cars and fled. The investigation, supported by the testimonies of the victim and her family, allowed the entire evening to be reconstructed, leading to the arrest of the man. The wife's complaint revealed years of harassment and abuse. The 37-year-old is now in prison, awaiting trial.

It's really sad that these things happen, especially in families where there are children. Adults should be examples of positive behavior, instead we see situations of violence and abuse that should never happen.
