Ercolano. The city is preparing to forcefully reiterate its “no” to crime and extortion with the annual anti-racket march, organized by the Municipality in collaboration with the FAI (Italian Anti-Racket Federation) of Herculaneum. The event, a symbol of civic participation and collective commitment, will take place on Friday, December 20, starting at 10 am from the municipal villa and arriving at the Virtual Archaeological Museum (MAV).
The march, which will see the participation of authorities, associations and citizens, will end with a series of speeches and testimonies in front of the MAV. A moment to reflect on the importance of legality and solidarity, fundamental elements to fight organized crime.
“This event represents an important opportunity to reaffirm the value of legality and solidarity,” declared the mayor of Ercolano, Ciro Buonajuto. "Our city has repeatedly demonstrated that it knows how to react with courage to organized crime. The march on December 20 is a strong and concrete signal of Ercolano's desire to say enough to racketeering, enhancing and supporting the work of institutions and associations that have been working for years to guarantee a future free from intimidation and fear."
For Pasquale Del Prete, president of FAI-Antiracket Ercolano, the march is a moment of unity and trust between citizens and institutions. “Taking to the streets means sealing the relationship of trust between the people of Ercolano and the institutions. Alone, we are more fragile and more exposed, while together we can reject any attempt of incursion by criminals.”
The city of Ercolano, a long-standing virtuous example in the fight against racketeering, confirms its role as a model for neighboring communities. The march on December 20 will not only be a moment of reflection, but also a concrete demonstration of the strength of a community united against all forms of abuse.
