Gianluca Nani, Udinese's group technical director, took stock of the future of some key players during the end-of-year press conference. Among the main topics, the return of Simone Pafundi, born in 2006, fresh from a loan at Lausanne. “Pafundi is now back with us: he is training, undergoing medical checks, after which we will evaluate the best path for him”, explained Nani, underlining the importance of ensuring continuity for young talents to encourage their growth.
"Simone has an extraordinary talent, indeed a lot of talent. After a period of settling in, together with the coach we will decide the most suitable solution. We do not exclude the possibility of a new loan, as long as it is a team that can make the most of him".
A passage was also dedicated to the Slovenian defender Jaka Bijol, at the centre of some market rumours that would see him in the sights ofInter. Nani clarified the position of the Friulian club: "Bijol is a very strong player and, for us, fundamental. We have no intention of selling our best players in January, even if, in football, nothing can be ruled out. If it were to happen, we would think about a suitable replacement, but we would prefer to postpone any discussion until June".
Udinese, faithful to its tradition of valorising young players and managing the market carefully, continues to plan the future with great attention. “Let's all listen – concluded Nani –, it's part of our work, but the goal always remains to preserve and develop our technical project".
