A new tragedy has shocked the city of Bari. This morning, inside the church of San Giovanni Battista, in the Poggiofranco neighborhood, the lifeless body of a newborn, about a month old, was found inside a heated crib.
The macabre discovery was made by the Flying Squad officers, alerted by a report. The experts from the Scientific Police also intervened on site to carry out the relevant surveys. The investigations, coordinated by the Flying Squad, are underway to reconstruct what happened and trace those responsible.
The mystery of the failed alarm
A disturbing detail emerges from this story: the alarm system connected to the thermal crib, designed to signal the arrival of a newborn, did not activate. “My cell phone, connected to the system, did not ring”Said Don Antonio Ruccia, parish priest of the church, currently far from Bari. This circumstance suggests that the child may have been placed in the cradle already lifeless.
The investigations
Investigators are reviewing surveillance camera footage in the area to try to identify any suspicious movements. An autopsy on the newborn's body is not excluded to clarify the cause of death.
