At the Royal Palace of Caserta, the virtuous path of sustainability and social inclusion continues: this year too, the oranges from the Royal Park and the English Garden will not be wasted, but will be transformed into the prized Queens' Jam.
Initiative possible thanks to the collaboration between the Green Museum and the social cooperative EVA, committed to combating gender violence and reusing assets confiscated from organized crime. For four years, the citrus fruit harvest inside the Royal Palace has been transformed into an opportunity for social redemption: the women of the cooperative, supported by interns from the “Accolti e Attivi” project for the maintenance of the Royal Park, have begun harvesting to start producing jam, made without preservatives and with a percentage of fruit greater than 45%, as required for “extra” jams.
The transformation of the citrus fruits will take place in the laboratory The Delicacies of Casa Lorena, born in 2012 in Casal di Principe in a property confiscated from organized crime, where the jam will be prepared and packaged with care. The project is not limited to jam: with the Royal Palace Jam they are also made Tart and Cheesecake of the Royal Palace, served at EVA's Buvette, the cafes managed by the cooperative in the Mercadante and San Ferdinando theatres in Naples, in collaboration with the Teatro di Napoli – Teatro Nazionale.
“This project represents a perfect example of circular economy and environmental sustainability, often a pleasant discovery for the public”, explains Fernanda Graziano, coordinator of The Delicacies of Casa Lorena. The Queens' Jam will be available for purchase at the Palace of Caserta, in the cafes EVA's Buvette, and online on the official website The Delicacies of Casa Lorena at the link: www.leghiottoneriedicasalorena.com. An initiative that combines tradition, social commitment and enhancement of the natural heritage of the Royal Palace.
