A new trend is spreading in Italy telephone scam which exploits the job search for extort personal data and money.
The call usually comes from an Italian number and, as soon as you answer, a recorded voice starts announcing: «Hello, we have received your resume», then inviting you to save the number and continue the conversation on WhatsApp.
The scam can be easily spotted by those who are not looking for a job, but it can fool those who have actually applied and are waiting for answers from unknown companies. The scammers' goal is to gain access to personal and banking data of the victim or induce them to send money, with a mechanism similar to the telephone fraud of a few years ago in which a fake son asked for financial help.
As reported by outlets such as the Corriere della Sera e Il Fatto Quotidiano, whoever continues the interaction receives messages in which the interlocutor pretends to be aemployment agency or a company, promising employment.
In some cases, a fraudulent link to fill out alleged employment forms; in others, the victim is pressured into investing in suspicious online platforms, with the promise of easy earnings.

It is a worrying fact that these phone scams continue to spread in our country. It is important that people are informed and know how to protect themselves, especially when it comes to personal data and work.
