Five people are under investigation for the acts of bullying and violence committed last summer in Sirignano, in the province of Avellino, against a minor. The images of the attack, spread on social media, had aroused indignation and outrage, leading to the opening of an investigation by the Avellino Public Prosecutor's Office and the Juvenile Court of Naples. The accused risk being charged with stalking.
The investigation began after the complaint of MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli (Green-Sinister Alliance), who had made public the videos of the attack. In the videos, the victim is threatened, beaten and forced to kiss the hands of the members of the gang. In one of the most disturbing passages, the young people intimidate him with a shocking phrase:
“If you talk to your mother, we will hang you like Christ on the cross.”
The footage documents two separate incidents: in the first, the boy is hit inside an apartment by an older youth, while the others film the scene. In the second video, the group surrounds him and threatens him again, hitting him with slaps to dissuade him from reporting.
Thanks to the intervention of the Avellino Flying Squad, the perpetrators of the violence were quickly identified. The investigation is now focusing on the forensic analysis of the electronic devices seized from the two adults involved. Two days ago, the Public Prosecutor Lorenza Recano ordered the acquisition of the material contained in the phones, in search of further elements useful to the investigation.
“If there is confirmation of the involvement of the suspects in the violence” – comments Borrelli – “it will be necessary to take serious measures and also intervene towards their families, hoping that they do not shirk their responsibilities, perhaps even justifying those foolish gestures. The phenomenon of bullying is constantly growing, condemning those responsible also means giving hope and courage to the victims.”

It is very sad that things like this happen in our society. We need to stop bullying and protect victims, but sometimes it seems that there are not enough measures or laws to do so. Let's hope that justice works.
