Naples – Summoned by the prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, the Relief Coordination Center met this morning to monitor the results of the surveys of carbon dioxide concentration levels in school buildings in the Campi Flegrei carried out by the firefighters and the Vesuvius Observatory.
The meeting was attended by the mayors of Pozzuoli and Bacoli, representatives of the Municipality of Naples, the firefighters, the director of the Vesuvius Observatory, the director of the Regional School Office, the director of the ASL Napoli 1 Centro and the representative of the ASL Napoli 2 Nord, and representatives of the police forces.
It has been learned that the further inspection by the firefighters has not highlighted any critical issues. As agreed in previous meetings, the Vesuvius Observatory carries out daily inspections in the Virgilio school in the municipality of Pozzuoli, confirming that, also in that location, no critical issues have been detected outside the premises already inhibited.
Pending the purchase of the detectors, the fire brigade and the Vesuvius Observatory will continue to guarantee support in detecting carbon dioxide levels in school facilities; the local health authorities, for the institute's activities, will begin checks on compliance with the indications contained in the ordinances adopted by the mayors on the subject.
All institutional actors have confirmed the high level of attention reserved to the issue in order to protect public and private safety.
