The Royal Palace of Caserta is preparing to inaugurate a significant novelty for visitors: the opening to the public of storage spaces that were previously inaccessible. This initiative represents an important step in the Museum's program to enhance the Vanvitellian Complex, offering a new vision of the preserved historical-artistic heritage.
In recent times, the Ministry of Culture has begun a major review of the spaces and works not yet accessible to the public, distributed in different areas of the structure. The operation has proven to be complex, given the vastness of the Palace and the difficulties associated with an often unsystematic organization of the heritage.

The project includes the creation of spaces dedicated to specific categories such as paintings, furnishings, stone materials, documents, applied arts and textile artefacts. Temporary warehouses are also planned for temporary exhibitions and installations. To ensure the safety of the works during handling and restoration, the task has been entrusted to specialized companies.
Growing Wealth
Currently, the storage spaces house several hundred works including paintings, frames, bronzes, glass objects, chairs and fabrics. The number is destined to grow thanks to the continuous cataloguing activity. Recently, stone materials and architectural fragments from the Royal Palace and the surrounding park have also been transferred. The opening of these storage areas represents a decisive step towards the valorisation and access to the heritage that until now has been hidden, thus enriching the museum's offering and allowing the public to discover a part of history that would otherwise be invisible.
