Naples – A new tragic road accident has bloodied the streets of Naples, taking the life of Pietro Dubuis, 56, owner of a well-known bar in Soccavo.
The episode, which occurred last night at the intersection of Via Epomeo and Via Garzilli, already represents the fourth case of road death since the beginning of 2025 in the Campania capital.
According to an initial reconstruction, Dubuis was riding a Honda motorbike with a passenger, travelling along Via Epomeo, when, at the height of Via Paolo della Valle, the vehicle collided with a Fiat Cubo van coming from Via Garzilli.
The impact was violent: both motorcyclists were thrown to the ground, suffering serious injuries. Rescuers intervened promptly, transporting the injured to the Cardarelli and San Paolo hospitals. Despite immediate care, Pietro Dubuis did not make it: he died shortly after being admitted to hospital.
The passenger of the motorbike, however, was hospitalised and remains under observation. The agents of the Local Police Road Accident Unit intervened on site and carried out technical surveys to reconstruct the dynamics of theaccident.
The driver of the van was subjected to toxicological tests, while both vehicles were seized for further investigation. Dubuis' body was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, where an autopsy ordered by the judicial authorities will be performed.
Pietro Dubuis, owner of a bar on via Stanislao Manna in Soccavo, was a well-known figure in the neighborhood. His death has thrown the local community into consternation, which has already had to deal with a series of fatal road accidents in the first months of 2025. This latest case reignites the debate on road safety in Naples, with many calling for urgent interventions to prevent further tragedies.
Investigations are still ongoing to clarify the responsibilities and the precise causes of the accident. In the meantime, the city mourns another child taken from life too soon.
