An investigation is underway into "Rubolino," as the man in the Mickey Mouse mask terrorizing passersby on Via Toledo in Naples has been nicknamed. According to Green Party MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, Rubolino is allegedly engaging in extortion and carrying a knife.
If reports on social media increase about Mickey Mouse terrorizing via Toledo, there would be no complaints from citizens, even though the State Police is carrying out checks on the matter. From the stories and videos on social media, it seems that Rubolino is lurking in front of the shop windows on via Toledo, acting for some years in the busiest street in Naples.
He attracts the attention of children, prompting their parents to ask for a photo. However, the shot comes at a cost: the man dressed as Mickey Mouse, as many have reported, demands not insignificant sums of money in exchange, and to those who refuse, he menacingly shows a pocketknife. In short, a version of Walt Disney's famous mouse that feels more like a horror movie. Following the complaint filed by Green-Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli , who continues to receive numerous reports from citizens and tourists regarding the alleged threats and extortion by the armed Mickey Mouse, law enforcement has launched an investigation.
Meanwhile, comments and videos accusing those who hide behind the Disney character mask are increasing on the web. "It is important to discover the truth as soon as possible - says Borrelli - because if what is reported were to be true then it would be very serious and dangerous episodes could happen on those days and at those times during which via Toledo is less crowded. If he is really a criminal he must be stopped. There are many reports and they are increasing even if I have already been to the place twice and I have not managed to meet him. Without confirmation, no one can be accused but checks are mandatory".
