IThe phenomenon of bradyseism continues to characterize the Campi Flegrei, where the ground rises at an average speed of about 15 millimeters per month. This is what emerges from the weekly surveillance bulletin published by the Vesuvius Observatory, the Neapolitan section of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
After a peak recorded between February and March, with an average uplift of 30 millimeters per month in conjunction with the seismic swarm of 15-19 February, the speed stabilized from April, remaining constant also in the last monitored week. Since January 2024, the total uplift measured at the Rione Terra GNSS station, in the heart of Pozzuoli, has reached about 30 centimeters.
In the period between June 30 and July 6, the area of Campi Flegrei It recorded 56 earthquakes, with the most significant event of magnitude 4.6, which occurred at 12:47 on June 30 in the Gulf of Pozzuoli, within a seismic swarm composed of 13 shocks. The experts of the INGV continue to carefully monitor the evolution of the phenomenon, which keeps the attention high on the area, known for its volcanic and seismic activity.
