Naples. Scooter and car rodeo past curfew in Piazza Mercato, blitz by the police after the protest of decent citizens tired of suffering criminal bullying.
“Residents of Piazza Mercato reported to us that, after midnight, a horde of kids on scooters literally invaded Piazza Mercato. Giancarlo Esposito, a restaurant entrepreneur, sent us a video of the absurd event. Until 4 in the morning, well past the curfew imposed by law, they made a racket with wheelies and honking horns. Then, cowards as they are, when the police arrived they ran away. A shocking situation, but how can the parents of these kids sleep soundly knowing that their children are out who knows where well past the curfew? Unfortunately, they are the ones primarily responsible. The citizens are now exasperated by the antics of these criminal hordes”. This was stated by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of Europa Verde, and Salvatore Iodice, councilor for Sole che ride of the II Municipality.
“The images that reached us yesterday of crowds and chaos throughout the city must alarm us. We need severe restrictions and an iron fist. We need to take drastic decisions – they add – even unpopular ones if necessary. We need tight and targeted controls in key areas such as the historic center and the seafront. If we pretend nothing is happening, the infection curve will skyrocket.”
