“In 2018 – says her mother, Fabiola Virno – Chiara was diagnosed with a metastatic malignant tumor. After our journey, at the Pausillipon hospital in Napoli and subsequently at the Gaslini in Genoa, it ended with the disease in remission – he continues – in September 2020 the disease recurred in a more aggressive form, so much so that it resisted drugs”.
“After undergoing various chemotherapies – writes the mother – in April 2022 there was once again a progression; therefore we had to start maintenance chemotherapy, as the hospital no longer has drugs to apply”.
“For this reason,” he explains, “we will continue medical treatment in New York, at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.” Chiara and her mother will leave on December 29.
“The Campania region – Fabiola Virno points out – helped us pay for the therapies, but now we need help to cover the costs and to be able to live peacefully. A heartfelt thank you – she concludes – to all those who will contribute”.
