A faithful during the procession of the float with the statue of the patron saint of Giugliano he tore down a road sign pole because the vehicle was unable to maneuver and the rector of the Annunziata sanctuary, Don Luigi Pugliese, wrote to the mayor, Nicola Pirozzi, to apologize, announcing that the celebrations committee will cover the costs of restoring it.
The incident occurred in Giugliano last Monday when there was the procession of the Madonna della Pace, co-patron saint of the city. The cart that is pulled by three pairs of oxen, however, in a street of the historic center could not turn due to the presence of a road sign pole.
So a man climbed up in a few minutes, uprooting the pole. A scene filmed with some cell phones and the video ended up on social media, becoming viral. Today the rector of the Annunziata sanctuary wrote to the mayor and the community of Giugliano to apologize for what happened but also to say that it was an independent initiative.
And that "the unknown bystander", adds Don Pugliese, who was the protagonist of the incident "acted independently and was not charged with this task by any of the organizers of the procession". The celebration committee, however, will cover the expenses.
