Weather improving over Naples and Campania over the weekend when an anticyclonic promontory will move over the central-western Mediterranean.
Temperatures on the rise but with values in line with the averages for the period and therefore without excessive heat, these are the latest updates that instead confirm the first real heat wave of the summer for next week.
Especially from Tuesday the African high pressure will bring hot air to the Mediterranean bringing the first peaks close to +40 degrees, especially on the Major Islands. Heat wave that should last a few days and then ease with the arrival of the last weekend of June, this trend however to be confirmed.
Italy is preparing to face the first heat wave of 2023 with the arrival of the African anticyclone from Algeria, and 6-10 degrees more by Tuesday. The heat this year begins with a considerable delay after at least 6 weeks of downpours and temperatures below average. Unfortunately, the downpours have hit hard also in the last hours, in particular the Center-South, and the alert remains on the extreme southern regions.
From the weekend, however, conditions of sultry heat are expected throughout Italy: temperatures will rise more significantly from Sunday, already reaching over 35°C in some inland areas of the Major Islands, particularly in Sardinia.
From Monday the thermometer will rise everywhere, reaching a first peak right for the summer solstice: on Wednesday 21 June 34°C are expected in Florence and Padua, 33°C in Bologna and Rome, 31-32°C also in Milan and Turin, but with a lot of humidity and therefore with temperatures perceived to be close to 40°C.
The hottest temperatures are expected in Sardinia with 41°C in Oristano between 20 and 21 June and in Sicily, in Syracuse, with 38°C and Catania 36°C; among the hottest cities there will also be Taranto with 37 degrees in the shade, Foggia and Matera 36°C, Bari, Bolzano, Forlì and Lecce with 35°C.
