The serial scooter thief who, together with an accomplice, set out from Casalnuovo to steal scooters in Sorrento was arrested this morning by the Carabinieri.
The 32-year-old was locked up in the Poggioreale prison in execution of an order implementing the precautionary measure of custody, issued by the investigating judge of Torre Annunziata at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, for the crime of aggravated theft in competition.
The facts being investigated refer to two episodes of scooter theft, both of significant economic value, committed in Piano di Sorrento on 9 November 2021 and 21 January 2022.
The investigative activity, carried out by the military of the Piano di Sorrento Carabinieri Station and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, has allowed us to document how the perpetrator of the crime, in both episodes, entered, with the same modus operandi, inside condominium courtyard areas and then removed the parked motorcycles, after having forced the locking systems.
The comparison of the images captured by the municipal and private video surveillance systems, extrapolated on the occasion of the thefts committed, has allowed us to reconstruct the entire criminal event and to arrive, with high probability, at the identification of one of the perpetrators of the two theft episodes in the person arrested today.
