Sanremo 2024, who decides the winner between televoting, press jury and radio? The rules of the final votes: here's how it works.
Article Key Points
Sanremo 2024 who decrees the winner?
There are three juries in charge of voting for the competing singers:
The public via televoting from landlines and mobile phones;
The Jury of the Press, TV and Web Room, composed of representatives of the media accredited to the Festival (printed paper, television and web, except web radio) specialized in the sector;
The Radio Jury, composed of national and local radio stations, selected according to criteria of representation of the entire Italian territory. It is the radio jury that in fact takes the place of the "old" opinion poll.
The rules of the Final
So far, only the names of the top 5 have been revealed to the public at the end of each evening. But tonight everything changes. Here are the rules.
Tonight, February 10, all 30 big names in the competition will perform again with their songs voted only by televoting. For the first time, the general ranking will be announced, as formed at the end of the fourth evening. Then, based on the average between the percentages of votes obtained in the evening through televoting and those obtained in the previous evenings, a new general ranking of the 30 songs will be formed and communicated to the public.
The first five names will perform once again, the previous votes will be reset and a new vote will be held by all three Juries. The three voting systems will have a percentage weight on the overall result of this last vote in the Evening divided as follows: Televoting 34%: Press Room, TV and Web Jury 33%; Radio Jury 33%. At the end of this vote, the final ranking of the first five will be revealed, proclaiming the winning song of the Sanremo Festival 2024.
How televoting works
As stated in the regulation. Voting by Televoting (from landlines and mobile phones via SMS) by the public will take place in compliance with the regulation of the Communications Regulatory Authority regarding the transparency and effectiveness of the Televoting service approved with resolution no. 38/11/CONS and subsequent amendments (hereinafter also “AGCOM Regulation”), as well as the specific Regulation on the matter for SANREMO 2024, which will be published on the website www.sanremo.rai.it before the start of the Festival live broadcasts, with all the details relating to the voting methods.
Televoting by telephone call can only be carried out from landlines located in Italy of Tim, Wind Tre, A2A Smart City, Convergenze, Tiscali, Uno Communications, Brennercom, Sky Wifi and Iliad, while it is not possible to carry it out from public telephones, mobile phones, or from landlines located abroad.
It is done by dialing the telephone number 894.001. The cost of each call from a landline (regardless of the distance, time, duration of the call and telephone operator) with which a valid vote is actually expressed will be Euro 0,51 including VAT.
No cost will be charged for calls made by the user beyond the maximum number allowed for each voting session; therefore, if the user makes an excessive number of calls or enters an incorrect or out-of-time song-artist identification code, the user will hear a free error message and no votes will be counted.
Televoting via SMS can only be carried out by mobile users of the telephone operators TIM, Vodafone, Wind Tre (with SIM cards/users branded “3”, “Wind” and “WIND TRE”), Poste Mobile, Coop Italia (with SIM cards/users branded “CoopVoce”), Iliad, 1Mobile, Kena, Very Mobile and ho.mobile by sending an SMS to the number 475.475.1
