Satoshi Kon brings his masterpiece Perfect Blue to the cinema, in a restored 4K version. The film, released in 1997 and produced by MadHouse, will be screened for the first time in Campania cinemas on April 22, 23 and 24, as part of the 2024 Anime at the Cinema Season, organized by Nexo Digital in collaboration with Yamato Video.
Plot: Perfect Blue by Satoshi Kon
In Perfect Blue, Satoshi Kon tells the story of Mima, a singer who, disappointed by the lack of success she has achieved, decides to abandon the world of idols to pursue a career as an actress. However, the transition will not be easy as Mima will find herself facing threats and violence from an obsessed fan. The protagonist will begin to lose touch with her own identity, questioning who she really is between her public image and her private life.
Curiosities about the film
Perfect Blue attracted great interest upon its release in Japan, generating long lines at theaters and winning the prestigious Public Prize at Fant'Asia '97. The film, based on a novel by Yoshikazu Takeuchi and written by Sadayuki Murai, marked the directorial debut of Satoshi Kon, already known for his work as a comic book artist. The collaboration with Katsuhiro Otomo further enriched the project, giving it added value.
