During the inauguration of the new nature trail in the archaeological park of ancient Liternum in Giugliano, in the province of Naples, the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca, met with a committee of citizens who live in daily anxiety, barricaded in their homes due to the frightening frequency of 60-70 burglaries in their homes every day.
These people are demanding the fundamental right to safety, both for themselves and their families. De Luca stressed that the responsibility for security policies does not fall to the Campania Region, but to the Ministry of the Interior, which must therefore be called upon to intervene to address this emergency.
The governor assured that the Campania Region will do its utmost, firstly, by urging the convening of a committee for public order and security in the Prefecture, in order to address this problem. Secondly, resources will be invested in the installation of video surveillance systems in the neighborhoods, as soon as the national government makes the Cohesion funds available.
The prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, has called a meeting of the provincial committee for public order and safety for today, during which the security situation in the municipality of Giugliano in Campania will be discussed, focusing in particular on home burglaries. The mayor of Giugliano in Campania will also participate in the meeting.
