“It was born in the middle of nowhere”: the birth of Monte Nuovo in 1538 by Vincenzo Boccardi.
The Pro Loco Puteoli, the Lux In Fabula Cultural Association and the Thetys Foundation – Museo del Mare di Napoli are pleased to announce a performance that brings to light one of the most intense moments in local history: the birth of Monte Nuovo in 1538.
The event, which enjoys the moral patronage of the Municipality of Pozzuoli, will take place on May 20, 2024 starting at 17:00 pm in the former Council Chamber of Palazzo Miglaresi, Rione Terra – Pozzuoli.
È nato all'intrasatto is the title of the performance, which draws inspiration from the detailed and evocative historical chronicles collected by Vincenzo Boccardi to offer an accurate narration of the eruption that forever changed the landscape of the Campi Flegrei. The evening will be introduced by the vice president of the Fondazione Thetys-Museo del Mare, M. Antonietta Selvaggio and by the author of the text, Vincenzo Boccardi.
Actresses Nella D'Angelo and Nicoletta Boccardi will give voice to the historical reconstruction, taking viewers back in time to that fateful event in the 16th century, while renowned painter M° Antonio Isabettini will capture the essence of the eruption by painting an impromptu picture, inspired by the phenomenon narrated.
The experience will be made more engaging by the musical interventions of Vincenzo Boccardi, Ugo Dente and Tiziana Tuzi who will be able to thrill the audience making them fully involved.
Admission is free, a choice that aims to underline the importance of community participation and the maximum diffusion of local culture and history.
