The Court of Appeal of Naples has acquitted Salvatore Ruggiero, alias “Pizziluongo”, a well-known criminal from Airola, of the charge of false declaration. Lawyer Vittorio Fucci, Ruggiero's defender, was able to assert his legal arguments, obtaining a favorable verdict for his client.
Salvatore Ruggiero, 56 years old, had been sentenced in the first instance by the Court of Benevento to a year and a half of imprisonment. The complexity of the evidentiary framework had led to an initial conviction, but the lawyer Fucci was able to dismantle the accusations point by point during the appeal trial.
The verdict of the Court of Appeal of Naples has completely overturned the previous sentence, leading to the acquittal of Ruggiero. It now remains to be seen whether the prosecution intends to appeal to the Supreme Court or whether the judicial affair of Salvatore Ruggiero will end with this definitive acquittal.
