The Theatre in the Square Returns to San Lorenzo Maggiore
The theatre in the square continues in San Lorenzo Maggiore, in the space that for fourteen years has seen a group of tireless Laurentines gather, combining their passion for theatre, love for their country and the joy of being together.
The Cultural-Theatrical Association “A. Lamparelli”
The promoter of the event is the cultural-theatrical association “A. Lamparelli” that since 2010 has preserved and nourished local traditions, re-proposing them and valorizing all forms of culture that animate the Samnite village. This association has demonstrated a constant commitment to keeping the culture and traditions of the place alive through theatrical performances and other cultural activities.
Comedy in Local Dialect
The theatrical performance proposed this year is a comedy in local dialect, entitled “After Easter… it’s still a party”. The plot of the show, which will be performed on August 6 and 7 at 20:30 pm in Piazza Largo di Corte, tells of a small town in the south shocked by the news of the alleged apparition of the Madonna to a young fellow villager. The news causes a stir in the town. Although it raises some doubts in some, others, while not entirely believing in the alleged apparition, still think they can make some profit from it.
A Comedy of Misunderstandings
“Dopo Pasqua… è festa ancora” is a comedy of errors, seasoned with a healthy dose of irony and some notes of popular wisdom that will make the spectators laugh and reflect. All the actors are from Laurentina and also the author of the text, Domenico Gillo, who will also direct it and will be an actor himself. On stage, together with him, there will be Mario Pengue, Giovanna Paolella, Areobaldo Meoli, Francesco Marciano, Ornella Meoli, Luciano Di Libero, Sandra Garofano, Giuseppe Meoli, Anna Maria Tommasiello, Laura Pengue, Marina Ruggiero, Mario Limata and Giovanni Ciarleglio.
The August Appointment
The appointment is therefore for August 6 and 7 in San Lorenzo Maggiore with “Dopo Pasqua… é festa ancora”, the theatrical piece that will open a busy calendar of events that will continue until August 12, as part of the celebrations for the patron saint, San Lorenzo.
