Attacks wife and destroys furniture: 35-year-old arrested

Furnishings torn apart, broken glass, heart-rending screams that resounded through the streets of Riardo..It all happened yesterday afternoon, when the man, after having consumed an excessive amount of alcohol, began to rant against the wife, making unfounded accusations and increasingly serious threats against her.

In front of the terrified eyes of his minor daughter, the man's aggressiveness grew out of all proportion. “He pushed me against the wall, grabbed me by the hair”, says the woman with shining eyes.

The little girl, a small witness to unheard-of violence, remained paralyzed by fear, hidden in a corner of the room. “I have never seen my father like this”, he confided to the police, his voice barely a whisper.

Taking advantage of a moment of distraction, the woman managed to escape to the bathroom and call 112. “I'm afraid he'll kill me,” she whispered into the phone, as her husband's screams echoed through the apartment.

When the carabinieri arrived, they found a bleak scene: furniture torn apart, personal items scattered everywhere and the woman, distraught, trying to console her trembling daughter. The man, who in the meantime had left the house, was tracked down shortly after and arrested.

“It's not the first time it's happened,” the victim admitted to the police, telling of months of abuse and psychological violence. "I was afraid to report it, I thought no one would believe me."
