A 93-year-old woman from Carinola received a phone call telling her that a family member had been involved in a serious car accident. The caller asked her to prepare a sum of money or gold items to be delivered to a supposed “assistant” who would come to her home to collect it.
The woman, cunningly, did not fall into the trap and immediately contacted the Carabinieri. The soldiers arrived without delay at the “granny’s” home and waited for the “courier” to arrive. While waiting, the 93-year-old received numerous calls from a man who insisted on the need to prepare the money and gold objects, warning her that one of his collaborators, on board a gray Fiat Panda, would soon arrive.
As expected, a 43-year-old man arrived shortly after casalnuovo of Naples with a gray Fiat Panda. He was immediately stopped by the Carabinieri. A search revealed that the man was in possession of two cell phones.
The 43-year-old, with a criminal record for fraud, was reported at large.
