In Naples, a meeting of the “Green Commission”, chaired by Fiorella Saggese, with councilor Vincenzo Santagada was held to discuss the program for pruning tall trees. “The director of the Green service, Teresa Bastia, illustrated the main interventions planned until December 31 in the various municipalities,” reads a note.
At Saggese's request, Bastia clarified that each municipality has its own pruning plan, developed independently from the planning of the central offices.
Several councilors, including Gennaro Acampora (PD), Claudio Cecere (M5S), Iris Savastano (FI), Pasquale Sannino and Rosario Palumbo (Together for Mediterranean Naples), asked for clarifications on specific territorial situations.
Palumbo called for greater communication of interventions on public green spaces through social media to better involve citizens. Salvatore Guangi (FI) expressed satisfaction with the work carried out by the department, highlighting a clear improvement compared to previous administrations.
Santagada concluded by underlining the benefits of the separation of competences between the Parks and Green services and announced that the tree census will be completed by 2025, carried out with specific technical tools for more effective monitoring.
On the recent collapse of the tree in via Bernini, Santagada declared that technical surveys are underway to understand the causes and anticipated that, starting from January, a new model of coordination and division of responsibilities between central offices, municipalities and participating companies will be introduced, with the entry of new, already trained personnel.
