Article Key Points
“The mother of one of the two boys told us that her son and his friend were first provoked and then beaten for no reason,” explains Borrelli. “My son had his nose broken, while his friend suffered a broken foot. It could have been a tragedy,” the woman said.
According to the deputy, Aversa is now hostage to violence. “We are witnessing the repetition of horrible episodes in general indifference. Young people cannot live in fear of being attacked while they spend their free time. We are facing a dangerous escalation of violence that must be stopped immediately”, he has declared.
Borrelli recalled the recent events in Sorrento, where a boy was left on the brink of death by six attackers, and underlined the urgency of a decisive response: “It is time to react firmly, without giving any respite to those who want to transform our cities into a Wild West without rules”.
The story of Carmen Pommella, actress and artistic director of the Musidantea 2.0 Association
“It could have been a tragedy.” To reconstruct what happened is Carmen Pommella, actress and artistic director of the Musidantea 2.0 Association “The boys had just finished theater rehearsals, it was around midnight, and they went to eat a sandwich in the Seggio area.
Suddenly a person approaches, grabs a beer bottle from one of the boys and throws it at him, not content with that he pushes the other boy. At that point he warns them 'you better go'. They are immediately surrounded and beaten by ten people, in front of the girlfriends' eyes.
It was a terrible scene, they are all still very shaken. Aversa is a difficult area, on weekends it gathers the worst of the province. There are no controls and the city is in the hands of criminals and violent people who think they can do what they want. Our boys were beaten for no reason, it is not the first time. How many more will have to suffer the same fate? We feel helpless and defenseless”. Carmen.Aversa concludes

The article is very worrying, but it seems that the situation never changes. Young people cannot continue to suffer violence in such a brutal way. Something must be done, but what? The law does not seem to work.
