New arrests in the robbery case commissioned by a friar from the Sanctuary of San Matia occorrevole in Piedimonte Matese, relating to the period in which he carried out his duties in the Basilica of Sant'Antonio da Padova in Afragola.
The Carabinieri of the Afragola station have executed a custodial order issued by the investigating judge of the Naples North court, which orders prison for one person and house arrest for two others, all deemed responsible for aggravated robbery in competition.
After the arrest, last August, of six people - including two friars - the investigations of the Prosecutor's Office of Naples North continued to track down the other alleged perpetrators. The robbery was commissioned by Nicola Gildi, a friar who was in service at the Convent of Santa Maria occorrevole, to 'recover' cell phones containing videos, photos and 'compromising' chats of a sexual nature involving friars.
Further investigation and technical tools have allowed us to identify other people involved in this robbery and to document how attempts were made to prevent their identification by also promising money to the relatives of people already arrested.
Intercepted conversations between robbers and their families in prison
Conversations intercepted in prison during the robbers' conversations with their families allowed us to reconstruct the complex context in which the robbery had occurred and to acquire further evidence on the motive that had led to the violent theft of the cell phones from the two victims.

It is truly incredible how these people could do such a terrible thing. Friars should be examples of virtue and not of crime. Justice must take its course in these difficult cases.
