This morning, a meeting was held, convened by the Prefect of Napoli, Michele di Bari, a meeting regarding employment issues of approximately sixty-five workers, currently employed at the point of sale Metro Italy spa, located in Pozzuoli, following the company's decision to close the site on April 30th.
The meeting was attended by the Councillor for Labour and Productive Activities of the Campania Region, Antonio Marchiello, the Mayor of the Municipality of Pozzuoli, Luigi Manzoni, the Human Resources Manager and the Director of the Metro Italia store, as well as the delegates of the territorial secretariats of the Trade Unions Filcams Cigl, Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs.
During the meeting, the representatives of Metro Italia spa confirmed their intention to proceed with the closure of the store on April 30th, expressing, however, their intention to improve the strategic plan, also with regard to the protection measures for workers, in view of the ministerial meeting scheduled for January 22nd.
The participants at the table unanimously asked the company to evaluate an extension of the closure of the site and to commit to the preparation of a strategic plan that provides effective protection for all workers affected by the layoffs, taking into account the complexity in which the production unit of the territory is located, from a socio-economic point of view.
