Naples – A settling of scores linked to the control of drug dealing in the Spanish Quarters is thought to be at the root of the ambush on Carmine Grammatica, known as “Tappett,” who was wounded on January 23, 2023 in the heart of the city.
Last Monday, investigators identified and notified in prison two precautionary custody orders against Eduardo Saltalamacchia, leader of Pignasecca, and Ciro Burraccione, his most loyal follower. Both are accused of personal injury, carrying and possession of a firearm with the aggravating circumstance of mafia.
According to the investigations coordinated by the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the Naples Flying Squad, Grammar he allegedly tried to carve out an independent space for himself in drug dealing, coming into conflict with the Saltalamacchia group. An affront that would have triggered a violent reaction: the young man would have been wounded with a pen gun, a deadly and easily concealable weapon.
Grammatica, with a history of drug offences, is no stranger to the judicial news. He had already been arrested in 2022 on charges of wounding Marco Zanga, but was not convicted. He was also the victim of two ambushes: the first in September 2021, when, at just 18 years old, he was injured in his left ankle following an argument in the Largo Baracche area. On that occasion too, the main hypothesis was a targeted attack by two or three young rivals.
Investigations are continuing to further clarify the context and identify any other people responsible for the raid.
