Spanish Quarters, attempted murder of Carmine Grammatica: two gunmen arrested

Naples – Punished because he wanted to deal drugs in the Quartieri Spagnoli area controlled by the Saltalamacchia clan. And so, two years later, the Naples mobile squad arrested the two alleged perpetrators of the attempted murder.

Measure executed by delegation of the Public Prosecutor of Naples, and issued by the Preliminary Investigations Judge (GIP) of the Court of Naples. The measure, requested by the Public Prosecutor's Office - District Anti-Mafia Directorate, concerns two people seriously suspected of the crimes of personal injury, illegal carrying and possession of a firearm, aggravated by the mafia methods provided for by article 416 bis of the penal code.

The investigations, conducted by the Naples Flying Squad, refer to the gunshot wounding of Carmine Grammatica, known by the nickname “Tappet”, which occurred on the evening of January 23, 2023 in the Spanish Quarter, a central area of ​​Naples.

Grammatica, already known to the police for previous convictions related to drug and arms trafficking, was allegedly hit with a pen gun during a conflict between criminal groups for control of drug dealing in the area.

The Criminal Context of the Spanish Quarters

Investigations have revealed that, between late 2022 and early 2023, the Spanish Quarters were the scene of growing tension between three distinct criminal groups, each interested in expanding their control over illicit activities, particularly drug trafficking.

This climate of fibrillation has led to a series of violent episodes, including the attempted murder of Vincenzo Masiello, which occurred on November 5, 2022, and the wounding of Grammatica.

According to investigators, Grammatica, initially close to Masiello's group, tried to become independent, starting his own drug dealing business in an area controlled by the boss Eduardo Saltalamacchia. This move triggered the violent reaction of the suspects, culminating in the ambush in January 2023.
