Vairano Patenora – for the death of Ciro Canale the investigations, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Capua Company under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, are focused on the reconstruction of the man's last movements.
Canale, without a stable residence, lived in Castel Volturno, but moved frequently between different locations, often spending time in the land of Vairano, where he owned a caravan used as a shelter.
The man had hit the headlines for the theft of a 19th century tile from Palace of Caserta, stolen in March 2023, as well as for the theft of works of art in London, including a plaque removed from the half-length portrait of John Ray at the British Museum.
Investigators are not ruling out any possibility: among the hypotheses being examined, that of an accidental death linked to the car fire, but also that of a possible homicide. The autopsy will clarify the causes of death, which will have to establish whether Canale died due to the burns or whether the fire was started to cover up another cause of death.
The investigations continue at 360 degrees to shed light on a story whose contours are still unclear.
