The Guardia di Finanza of Caserta executed a search warrant and emergency precautionary seizure against a man who was posing as a faith healer, as part of an investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere into property crimes.
The suspect is accused of aggravated fraud due to impaired defense and aggravated fraud for obtaining public benefits, including citizen's income and inclusion allowance.
The investigation, conducted by the Marcianise Company, began after a television report aired last May on a national network. In the report, the man – active in the municipality of Santa Maria a Vico – claimed he could cancel the harmful effects of drugs on drug addicts by offering paid treatments.
The evidence gathered so far would have demonstrated that the self-styled healer allegedly took advantage of the vulnerability of his clients to obtain undue profits. In execution of the judicial order, sums of over 100 thousand euros were seized, believed to be the result of the alleged illicit activities.

I read about the Guardia di Finanza operation and it seems to me that it is a very complicated situation. But I do not understand how a healer can deceive so many people, perhaps there is more to discover about this story.
