The prison of Poggioreale in Naples it was the scene of an anti-drug operation thanks to the intervention of the canine units of the penitentiary police.
During a series of checks in the detention rooms and the interview room, the drug dogs Tyson and A-iron discovered doses of hashish and cocaine. During the operation, a woman, relative of a prisoner, was arrested because she was found in possession of 40 grams of cocaine.
The arrest was possible thanks to the collaboration between the Poggioreale penitentiary police and the dog unit.
Giuseppe Moretti and Ciro Auricchio of the Penitentiary Police Union (USPP) expressed satisfaction with the effectiveness of the intervention, praising the work of the canine units and the penitentiary staff.
Tyson and A-iron have been called “a nightmare for drug dealers” and are an important resource in the fight against drug introduction into prisons. Poggioreale prison continues to face the challenges of overcrowding and understaffing, with a spirit of sacrifice that allows order and security to be maintained within the institution.

The operation at Poggioreale prison is very important. The dogs do an incredible job, but we should think about why there are still so many drugs inside. We need to do more to prevent this.
