Raffaele Anastasio, a leading figure in the clan of the same name and nephew of Aniello Anastasio, or uncle, the historic boss of the gang, has been released. Last August he was sentenced to six years and six months in prison. He had already been sentenced to 4 years and 8 months for extortion using mafia methods, which he had served in full, following an arrest warrant issued by the DDA Dr. D'Onofrio in July 2010, and arrested after several months on the run in March 2011. For Anastasio, the prosecutor had requested 13 years and six months, mandatorily reduced by 1/3 to 9 years for a summary trial. He had been detained in Teramo since May 2016. However, the Court of Cassation overturned that sentence and therefore Raffaele Anastasio, known as "Don Felice", defended by lawyers Rosario Arienzo and Giancarlo Nocera, has been released.
