Yesterday afternoon, July 6, 2018, following several reports received at the Police Headquarters regarding suspected drug dealing in the area between Via Calenda and Via Laspro in Salerno, State Police personnel from the Flying Squad – “Falchi” Section conducted a targeted stakeout and patrol in the area. On Via De Caro, a street connecting Via Calenda and Via Laspro, a young man was observed sitting on a bench next to a Suzuki motorcycle, looking around warily. The officers immediately stopped him and identified him as SA, an 18-year-old with a clean criminal record. A subsequent search found nine pieces of hashish wrapped in parchment paper, weighing 12,372 grams, inside his helmet, between the padding and the outer shell. Furthermore, three sets of keys were found on the young man, and when questioned by the police, he stated that one was for his current residence, one for the house he was moving from, and the third was for a garage he owned. Searches were then conducted at the indicated locations, resulting in the discovery and seizure of another narcotic substance, hashish weighing a total of 47 grams, two electronic scales, packaging materials for drug dealing, approximately €5.000, and three handwritten sheets of paper listing the proceeds of the narcotic sales. After the usual formalities, the young man was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and placed under house arrest at the disposal of the judicial authorities, pending the summary trial scheduled for this morning.
