Gaetano Guarino, a dangerous fugitive betrayed by social media and tracked down in Tunisia. He was on the Ministry's list and untraceable for 11 years. The Carabinieri found him and arrested him in Tunisia
Gaetano Guarino He is 57 years old and from Melito of Naples. The Carabinieri of the Investigative Nucleus of the Provincial Command of Naples arrested him in Tunisia, with the collaboration of the Neapolitan ROS and the Tunisian Police. He had been untraceable for almost 11 years and, as a fugitive, was included in the list of the Ministry of the Interior. What was once "the list of 100".
Guarino is considered a drug trafficking broker, unrelated to mafia-type organizations but promoter of a criminal group that was involved in importing drugs from abroad to Italy. Thanks to a dense network of supporters distributed in various nations, the 57-year-old managed the transit of drugs – generally heroin - from the Turkey up to the province of Naples, passing through the Greece.
In a provision last April, the Attorney General's Office at the Court of Appeal of Naples made the executive sentenced to 25 years in prison, for international drug trafficking and money laundering.
The Carabinieri, also through web patrolling, discovered a profile that the 57-year-old had created on social networks with false data and thanks to the analysis of the "friendships" and the published posts they were able to trace their position and daily movements.
He was arrested and held in a Tunisian prison, awaiting extradition.
