Sunday 15 May sees the return of the Sunday appointment with the Taste Workshops organized in collaboration with Slow Food to promote the culture of food, through dialogue and the joy of being together, learning to get to know the products of the Vesuvian territory up close, starting from their ancient origins up to their use in today's gastronomy.
Expert growers and producers accompany participants in the rediscovery of foods from the ancient and modern food and wine tradition. Sunday, May 15th will be the turn of “Il Paniere Vesuviano” as a tool to safeguard and enhance the agro biodiversity still present in the territory, react from below to climate change, support small farms that are inspired by the values of good, clean and fair food of Slow Food through the recovery of the ancient cultural traditions of our Community.
Participants will be offered a tasting of some of the 23 traditional products (fruit, vegetables, saffron, wine, etc.) present with a brief description of their peculiarities.
The Taste Labs are created thanks to the support of the Campania Region, as part of the POC 2020.
"These are the weekends we love at Ercolano Park – intervenes Director Sirano – we are reclaiming spaces and vitality: with the evening opening of the Theatre we offer the exciting experience of exploring the history of Ercolano and with the taste laboratories instead an immersion in the culinary roots of these lands, which never cease to amaze".
Furthermore, Wednesday 18 May 2022 is International Museum Day (IMD) and the Archaeological Park of Ercolano is joining in by opening its gates to the public on its weekly day of rest.
The aim of International Museum Day is to raise awareness of the fact that Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.
"We wanted to participate in this day by opening the Park to the public on the weekly closing day. – declares the Director Francesco Sirano – and we are happy to postpone until next week the work that needs to be done in the absence of visitors.
And taking inspiration from the themes proposed for this year's edition, we can well say that the Ercolano Park truly has 'the power to build a community through education, to weave a social fabric essential for the construction of the community'; it is on this principle that the new visual identity of the Park was built and these foundations guide our work on a daily basis".
