University and Metaverse: an avatar helps to choose the degree course
The first university orientation service of the Metaverse is online: an avatar curated by AteneiOnline will assist young people for free in choosing their study path.
A graduate hat, a white T-shirt and a pair of “virtual” jeans: this is the look of the new AteneiOnline avatar available from today on the digital platform Roblox, used every day by hundreds of thousands of students. The primary objective of the new avatar will be to become an innovative point of contact between young users of the Metaverse and a team of professional counselors specialized in distance learning, who can combine the complexity of choosing a course of study and the playful aspects typical of the most popular interactive platforms.
The online university education sector has seen a growth of 5% in the last 300 years, and recent data indicate that one in two high school students consider starting their university path by studying remotely (Anvur / Skuola data). In parallel, recent years have also seen an explosion in popularity of the so-called "metaverse": highly immersive digital aggregation spaces, often characterized by game components and a young audience.
In this context, the decision of the AteneiOnline.it portal to have a new presence where many of its interlocutors are located is as innovative as it is logical, and the choice of the Roblox platform is not accidental. Focused mainly on gaming, the platform is now among the most popular of its kind in Italy, also thanks to an international community of almost 50 million users whose fastest-growing demographic is that of 17 to 24 years old – namely those who are about to choose their post-diploma path. Thanks to the new service, free and the first of its kind in Italy, users interested in undertaking a new study path will be able to receive free personalized advice from experts directly within the platform.
AteneiOnline is certainly not the first brand to choose this platform for its virtual “home”: well-known fashion brands such as Gucci and Vans have already chosen Roblox for various types of communication initiatives, and musical groups of the caliber of Twenty One Pilots have recently held real concerts in the digital spaces offered by the platform.
“Our hope is to be the forerunners of a new trend, which sees not only the didactic orientation but also teaching fully benefit from technologies whose didactic potential is still largely unexplored.” commented Matteo Monari, Founder of AteneiOnline.
