“Venice in Naples. Extended Cinema”, now in its 12th edition, conceived and directed by Antonella Di Nocera, is the only independent film festival in collaboration with the Venice Biennale, created thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Campania Region, the Fondazione Film Commission Regione Campania and with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples.
From Tuesday 25 to Sunday 30 October 2022, a selection of films from the Festival, almost all previews or exclusives (award-winning works but not distributed in theaters), meetings with actors and directors, mornings with restored classics for schools, revealing poetics and extended narratives, to bring international cinema to the Campania territories, creating a unique moment for the public, especially for students who can request free accreditation.
The festival is the result of a broad partnership between institutions and associations, from the center to the outskirts: the Federico II University of Naples, which provides the Astra cinema, the Academy of Fine Arts with three morning events for students, the French Institute, the Cervantes, the Goethe and the Confucius, as well as associations such as Arci Movie and Zia Lidia Social Club, and the participation of film schools and local theaters.
"Cinema as sharing has always been the fulcrum of "VENICE IN NAPLES. EXTENDED CINEMA" and of what Parallelo 41 Produzioni, which this year celebrates 20 years of activity, creates and curates for the city. As always, in its extended sense, the event is the hope for culture that spreads and settles with force from the center to the outskirts and vice versa", says Antonella Di Nocera, creator and director of the event.
The six-day event will tell the story of 20 countries through independent films (including Colombia, Syria, Hungary, Israel, Greece, Burkina Faso, Indonesia and Taiwan), to go beyond the boundaries of ordinary distribution and offer exclusive meetings with the authors, with a careful eye on young people and the female universe.
