From Wednesday 17 July, the IV edition of Note in Vacanza welcomes the world of percussion, with masterclasses and concerts organized by illustrious teachers such as Rosario Barbarulo, Giuseppe Marotta, Antonio Palmieri, Gianpiero Saggiomo and Gerardo Sapere.
A Blend of Nature and Culture in Capaccio Paestum
The municipality of Capaccio Paestum has always represented a perfect combination of natural beauty, historical memory and cultural models. These elements provide the basis for building a society that is aware and capable of safeguarding beauty. It is the task of local administrations and those who work in the cultural world to enhance these characteristics, supporting reflection and dialogue between those who visit and those who live in these wonderful places. The holiday, seen as a “Time-Out,” is a regenerative break for humanity, illuminated by the arts that transform life from simple existence to life lived.
Percussion Protagonists of the Mini-Festival
The mini-festival of Wind Instruments, which reached its peak with the Banda dell'Aeronautica Militare conducted by Major Pantaleo Leonfranco Cammarano, now leaves room for percussion. Starting July 17, teachers Rosario Barbarulo, Giuseppe Marotta, Antonio Palmieri, Gianpiero Saggiomo and Gerardo Sapere will hold the third edition of a real campus at the rectory of Capaccio. Here, two events will take place as part of “Take your Time,” where the term “time” expresses not a simple Time-Out, but a time of creative leisure, as theorized by sociologist Domenico De Masi. This concept refers to an intellectual or artisanal activity that creates wealth and at the same time entertains those who carry it out, a philosophy that the MusiCilento Cultural Association and the Municipality of Paestum have always embraced.
Successful Events and Performances
The percussionists who will participate are fresh from an invitation-performance with the ensemble Percussionamo, led by teachers Rosario Barbarulo and Antonio Palmieri, at the “Maledette Malelingue Festival” in Novafeltria. Here, in memory of Ivan Graziani, they played a piece arranged by Gerardo Avossa Sapere. Their “Techno Tammurriata” was a fusion of techno music and folk instruments, performed by a talented ensemble.
A Campus of Creativity
During the three days of the campus in the rectory of Capaccio Capoluogo, over twenty kids will dedicate themselves to creativity, merging the boundaries between work, study and play. On July 17, the percussionists will parade in Via Magna Grecia at sunset, skirting the temples, while on July 19 the final concert of the Percussion Ensemble will be held on the suspended stage of Capaccio.
