Pomigliano. There is now zero tolerance for serving alcohol to minors Pomigliano. The Municipality has declared open war against those traders who violate the ban on serving alcohol to minors and in particular to adolescents under 14 years of age.
Mayor Raffaele Russo has decided to take a hard line, so much so that after the latest blitz by the Local Police, led by Lieutenant Colonel Emiliano Nacar, who last weekend caught a business owner in the historic center red-handed for the second time selling alcohol to minors and for the first time another business owner in the city center committing the same violation, both reported to the judicial authorities, an order was published today to close the two businesses.
For the repeat offender, the closure will last 15 days starting from the day of notification; for the other bar, however, caught in the act for the first time, the closure has been ordered for 5 days starting from Friday 18 July.
"As mayor of Pomigliano d'Arco and, even before, as a doctor - Raffaele Russo emphasizes - I am well aware of the serious damage that alcohol can cause to the health of adolescents. It is for this reason that our Municipality adopts a zero tolerance policy towards those who serve alcohol to minors".
"Recent checks - continues the Mayor of Pomigliano - have highlighted serious violations by some business owners. For these cases, we have already ordered the temporary closure of the businesses involved. However, I want to be clear: we will not stop here. For those who are caught repeatedly in these violations, we will adopt increasingly severe measures".
"The health and safety of our young people," Russo concluded, "is a top priority for this administration. We will wage war on anyone who puts the well-being of teenagers at risk, without exception. Anyone who thinks they can ignore the law and put the lives of young people at risk will be punished with the greatest severity possible."
Therefore, the continuous blitzes of the Municipal Police are bearing the fruits hoped for by the Municipal Administration. "We are deeply grateful to the Municipal Police, diligently led by Commander Nacar - declares Marianna Manna, Councilor for Commerce - for the checks they are carrying out to guarantee safety and decorum in the places of the Movida and thanks to which it was possible to sanction impudent shopkeepers who, in defiance of the law and any logic of civilization, have served alcohol to minors. The commerce office has, with extreme diligence, adopted the closure measures and on this line of intransigence our activity will continue".
