The resolution for the minimum municipal income has been approved and the figure of the Guarantor for the rights of lgbtqia+ people and for civil liberties has been established. These are the first measures adopted by the council led by the mayor of Torre Annunziata, Corrado Cuccurullo.
The meeting, the first of the Cuccurullo era, took place at Palazzo Criscuolo, on the 40th anniversary of the Sant'Alessandro massacre, where 8 people lost their lives and 7 were injured in a Camorra-related event on August 26, 1984, outside the Circolo dei Pescatori.
“The history of Torre Annunziata is long and profoundly positive, it cannot be reduced only to the Camorra events that have marked it – explained Mayor Cuccurullo – For this reason I have chosen to convene the first meeting of my administration on this date.
The history of Torre Annunziata is also made of union struggles and social battles. We start again from here, with the approval of the resolution that establishes a minimum wage of €9 per hour in public contracts and with the institution of the Guarantor for the rights of lgbtqia+ people and for civil liberties”.
All operators to whom the municipality of Torre Annunziata will entrust work, supplies and services will have to guarantee an economic treatment for employees of no less than 9 euros per hour. A measure that involves not only suppliers but also the institution itself. "With these measures we build a more united, modern and inclusive city".
At the end of the council meeting, the mayor, the council members and the president of the city council visited the Provolera neighborhood and the Rione Carceri. “Torre Annunziata must start again from these examples of spontaneous regeneration – said Mayor Cuccurullo – a regeneration from below that is already underway. An experience to be enhanced, extended and coordinated”.
