Harvest suspended for a few days at the Cantina Sociale di Solopaca, which has around six hundred members, invaded in the afternoon by mud and debris following the water bomb that hit the Sannio.
The decision was made official by the president of the Cantina Sociale Carmine Coletta who added: “After the flood of 2015 we had taken precautions that today have proven to be fundamental for the protection of millions of bottles of wine.
But the wave of water that came down from the mountains to the valley, the obstruction of some streams and the poor maintenance caused the flooding with mud and debris of our yard and some warehouses".
The water bomb hit the Benevento area in the afternoon, causing considerable disruption to traffic and causing flooding in the basements of homes in some municipalities in the province of Benevento.
In particular, a river of mud and debris poured down on the Solopaca-Melizzano-S.Agata dei Goti provincial road, obstructing the passage and causing some cars in transit to stop. Teams of workers are working on site to clear the road
