The Guardia di Finanza of the Provincial Command of Caserta continues without stopping its activity to combat trafficking, dealing and consumption of narcotic substances, a growing phenomenon in the municipalities of the upper Caserta area.
In October, checks carried out by the Finance Police of the Piedimonte Matese branch led to the seizure of 37 Cannabis Indica plants ready for harvesting, over 230 grams of marijuana and approximately 30 grams of hashish.
Two crops were identified, with plants up to three meters high, located in the countryside of the municipality of Dragoni; the inspection, observation and stakeout operations - even at night - allowed only one of the two owners of the plantations to be stopped. At his home, in addition to the 25 Indian hemp plants, 230 grams of marijuana were found, partly already packaged in doses.
The second plantation, consisting of 11 Indian hemp plants and hidden in a thick wood, also in the municipality of Dragoni, was seized because the owner of the land died and his heirs live abroad.
Finally, during targeted checks in the municipalities of Piedimonte Matese and San Gregorio Matese, the Finance Police seized a total of one Indian Hemp plant and over 30 grams of hashish, also through house and personal searches.
The seized substances were mainly intended for young people in the nightlife, aged between 16 and 30, who sometimes, after having consumed them, get behind the wheel, putting their safety and that of others at risk.
The crop from the plantations, once processed and dried, could have produced at least 12 kg of marijuana, with an estimated market value of over 60.000 euros.
