The Carabinieri of the Torre del Greco Radiomobile Section were carrying out a checkpoint along Via del Commercio, observing the cars in transit for possible checks. Among the vehicles they noticed a Fiat Panda whose driver, in an obvious attempt to avoid the check, was maneuvering through traffic in a suspicious manner.
Despite attempts to escape, the car is stopped. On board are a man, his wife and their son. During identification, the military ascertain that the driver, a 44-year-old originally from Naples, had in the past been considered close to the Ascione-Papale clan. His wife, a 45-year-old already known to the police, and his 21-year-old son, with no criminal record, completed the family picture.
Following their intuition, the Carabinieri decide to investigate further. They search the three occupants and the vehicle, thus discovering the reason for the suspicious behavior: in the woman's purse and in the young man's pocket, they find a "stiletto" knife and a "butterfly" knife, respectively. Furthermore, a carpenter's hammer was hidden in the car.
All the objects were seized, and the three subjects were reported for illegal possession of weapons and objects capable of causing offence.
